Heather Lambert works with YWAM (Youth With a Mission). YWAM Colorado offers to equip, prepare and launch students into ministry either living among unreached peoples or working on their behalf. She is now taking a group of 3 ladies to a muslim nation to teach english and will be gone Dec. 10 - Feb. 23. Please pray for safe travel and effective communication and lots of new friendships. 3. Raise an awareness of the needs as well as the beauty within the people that live in these nations to those who might not have a chance to interact with them personally, but can pray for them.

Greetings Potential LifeGroup Leader, I want to thank you for taking the time to attend our upcoming orientation. We know how valuable your time is and understand the sacrifice that is being made. Because of that I want to briefly explain what is in this packet, give a brief overview of the orientation and, finally, encourage you. Below you will find an application; while long, most of it is going to be used to get to know you and to better help you succeed in your group. In the application packet, you will find some background check information which is simply there in order to help us be a good steward of the trust people have given us. You will also find our statement of faith and a description of the responsibilities and character of a LifeGroup leader. While LifeGroups will have few boundaries, our statement of faith, description of responsibilities, and Honor Code will act as our guide. Finally, you will find a personality profile and a spiritual gifts inventory. Once again, we want to use these to help you be successful in your ministry. Orientation will be Sunday, July 27, 2008 at either 9:00am or 11:00am (choose one) in the Teacher’s Lounge at TCA. During orientation we will be answering your questions, introducing the structure of LifeGroups, giving you information about signing up your groups, and going over expectations and accountability. During this time you will meet some of the coaches that are going to be involved, and hear about skills that will help you to be successful in your ministry. Finally, I am constantly praying for you and your families as you begin this journey. I am asking God to bless you richly with His wisdom, discernment, passion and creativity. Let me encourage you to also be praying for those that will be in your group. I honestly can’t wait to see what God will do as we bathe this journey in prayer. We’ll see you then! Steve Burford

Dear Continuing LifeGroup Leader: We appreciate the time and effort you put in to making our Kitchen experience meaningful for people in our church family. We are hoping that you would like to pick up a LifeGroup for the Fall semester. Below you will find the “Continuing LifeGroup Leader” forms. If you are planning on leading a LifeGroup this semester, please be sure to complete the information and return it to the LifeGroup Kiosk any Sunday, fax them (785-0407), or mail it to the church office at: 16275 Kingswood Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80921. We have to have the forms returned to us by July 27, to ensure the information will be included in the directory. If you are having trouble deciding on what type of group you would like to lead, we have some suggestions of what we would like to see get started this fall. We would like to offer classes that help with visitor follow-up and web-based groups for those who cannot attend church on Sundays. We would also like to start a series of LifeLink classes that meet on Sunday mornings. Our hope is that they would be stand-alone classes (meaning people can join the group any week), discussion based, and open to visitors or people who are interested in what LifeGroups are all about. Topics that we would like to see in these classes would be sermon application, discipleship essentials, or apologetics. If you need help with curriculum or ideas, please contact me. Thank you for all of your faithfulness, Steve Burford

WE'RE TAKING A BREAK FOR THE SUMMER; CLASS WILL BEGIN SEPTEMBER 2008. Kids, do you like to travel? Is having fun your goal? Each Sunday you can join our Missions Kids Class and travel around the world. You will learn about a people group or a holiday. It isn't like school because you'll hear guest speakers, watch videos, play games, make crafts and eat foods from that country. You'll learn a Bible verse that shows God's heart for all the people of the world to know Him and worship Him. The best part of all is that you'll learn how to pray for people from other countries. So join us at 9:00 every Sunday if you're Kindergarten - 4th grade.

On September 24, 2007 The Gathering launched the next phase of our ministry called "The Kitchen". The kitchen is the area of our ministry that all others lead to. People will be challenged to use their gifts and talents to lead and to group together with one another to grow closer to Christ. We believe the best way to create these opportunities is through small groups of people meeting frequently. These groups will be called Life Groups.

For a more detailed explanation on Life Groups, check out our Overview.

What are Life Groups? - Overview

... groups of 3 or more people seeking to grow nearer to Christ through relationships with one another. What does this mean for those who are asking questions about Christ? They have a place. What does this mean for the mature believer? They have a place. What does this mean for those with a message to share? They have a place. What does this mean for the hurting? They have a place. Everyone is welcome and no one is turned away.

What will each group study or be involved in?
People typically grow better in life when they are coupled with people they like, or at least with those with which they share a common interest. Because of this, every group may be different, or several can be the same. They can be recreationally-centered, artistically-defined, serving-oriented, learning-based, teaching-led, or discussion-driven. They can be highly relational or very structured. They can have a syllabus and homework or no requirements at all. They might be for couples or singles, young or old. They can target families or those who have experienced divorce or death. We want to help create an environment of growth through relationships of shared interest: Loving God, Loving others, together.

How long is a Life Group's duration?
One semester. Life groups are designed to have movement at the beginning and end of each semester. Our groups need to help people grow in their relationship with Christ. Sometimes to grow means remaining in the same group; sometimes it means moving to another. Sometimes growing means people will need to move into leadership. Can groups continue to meet during the next semester? Absolutely!

Life Groups resume on September 7, with LifeFest on August 17 & 24

We believe in one God who alone is to be worshipped, who rules the universe and created everything. He has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Father, holy, almighty and loving, the source of all goodness and truth. We believe in the Son, one with the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ who was sent into the world by the Father's love, conceived by the Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was crucified for our sins and raised from the dead by the power of God. He now sits at the Father's right hand interceding for His Church and will return to judge all the earth, then every knee shall bow before Him.We believe in the Holy Spirit, one with the Father and Son, who inspired the Scriptures, brings to new birth all who believe on Jesus; indwells us as a seal to eternal life, inspires us to holy living and distributes gifts of power and service to all who believe. We believe that human beings were created in God's image, but were alienated from God because of sin and now live in a sin‑damaged world. We human beings cannot restore the relationship, but God in His love and mercy, through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, restores those who believe in Him. Jesus will heal the universe when He returns. We believe God brings all His new born children into His family, the Church, which is manifested fully in every place where He meets them as they gather for worship, fellowship and service according to His Word. As Lord of His Church, Jesus mandates us to proclaim Him to people everywhere so that, they too, might follow Him and be saved from eternal judgment. One day He will come and gather all His Church to be with Him in heaven's glory forever. We believe in the Bible as God's inspired Word to all people. In it He reveals the truth which we believe. It is trustworthy in all it affirms and it is reliable as our guide for conduct as individuals, as families and as a Church.

The Gathering recognizes that some needs are best dealt with in a confidential manner. Examples may include individual and marriage counseling, addiction groups, crisis pregnancy, assistance with troubled children, post-abortion recovery, and domestic violence protection. The church utiltizes a referral list of over 200 individuals, groups, and agencies local to the Pikes Peak region. My name is Craig Cato, and The Gathering has asked me to provide this confidential referral service for the church. If you call the number below, I will be the one answering the phone. Once I fully understand your need, I will direct you to a number of appropriate resources. Unless you request otherwise, pastors and church staff will remain unaware of your situation and need.In addition to calling or sending me an email, I can normally be found under the left video screen after both Sunday services. Since I carry the referral list with me, I should be able to provide immediate assistance to you.

Based on Psalm 86:11, Outrigger Island is more than a tropical paradise. It's the place where kids will develop the stability they need to face a world of shifting sands and wavering opinions.

Chris is currently working with the ISP which is a ministry under the umbrella of Campus Crusades for Christ. At four-day-long convocations, several hundred teachers view the Jesus film and the opportunity to consider a relationship with Christ- for themselves and then their students. ISP offers a morality and ethnics curriculum that many government officials welcome, convinced it can help turn such students into responsible adults.

Chris's role in ISP is to recruit delegates or volunteers who want to travel on a trip and train teachers to go overseas. ISP is currently working in Russia, Ukraine, Guatemala, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan. They have about 20 international two week trips per year and have, this year alone, already sent nine teams out to Russia, Ukraine, Guatemala, and Kyrgyzstan! Here are a few highlights from the trips:

Ukraine - They continue to train teachers in every school district. Over the two weeks, 214 teachers received the Christian morals and ethics curriculum! Most of the training was done my nationals.

Russia - A former Muslim public school teacher experienced her first Easter as a Christian!

Guatemala - The team director announced to the teachers that they would have an opportunity to receive a Bible if they wanted and a great round of spontaneous applause ensued! The Bible boxes emptied extremely quickly!

Kyrgyzstan - Conferences were held in two different cities with over 100 teachers participating in each. The team had a very good response from all the teachers.
